There is no turning back progress. Today’s design team’s and construction team’s interaction and communication from the beginning of a project to the end of a project is becoming more critical to meet increasingly more demanding time frames, infrastructure demands and budgets. Building Information Modeling (BIM) is one of the ways that this coordination effort is being addressed in an effective and real-world way. BIM is literally building the data center or mission critical facility digitally prior to the physical "brick and mortar” build. BIM helps the team avoid problems in the field because all the work is created and confirmed in the virtual model. The projects move faster and save everyone money and the more sophisticated construction groups are pushing the hardest. While BIM is still in its "wonder years” it will change the building industry as players discover multiple benefits to collaborative virtual design.
