Title: "Cyber-Attacks and Fraud: Keeping Your Organization Safe from the Bad Guys"

Speakers: Ron Draayer with Davenport University


Ron's presentation will be on methods that are used by cyber attackers against an organization and various techniques that can be used by companies to handle these attacks and prepare defenses against intruders. The talk will focus on emerging trends on this subject, types of attacks that are common today, the different phases that an organization should undertake when an incident or attack occurs, and some practical steps that can be taken by organizations to protect themselves. The presentation will shed light on how cyber-attacks are being used in fraud crime and what companies can do to safeguard their assets and information.

Speaker Bio:

Ron Draayer has been working in the computer systems and security field for over 35 years. He is an Associate Professor in the College of Technology at Davenport University in Grand Rapids, where he has taught many classes in systems, programming, network design, and computer security. He currently teaches in the growing fields of Disaster Recovery and Legal and Ethical Security Topics. Ron also has worked with numerous companies in designing and programming computer systems and has consulted in the areas of systems design and security analysis.

Ron has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Calvin College and Master's Degrees from Aquinas College and Ferris State University. Ron also has current certifications as an Associate Business Continuity Professional as well as a Global Certified Incident Handler. Ron recently became a Certified Fraud Examiner. He is a member of InfraGard, an organization sponsored by the FBI to protect the infrastructure of the United States from cyber and hostile attacks.
