Fall 2015 Region 5 Meetings - Sept. 21-22 in Chicago
The AITP Region 5 Fall Meetings will be held at the Holiday Inn, Rolling Meadows (Schaumburg), Illinois on September 21 and 22, 2015. Region 5 will join the Chicago Chapter for its dinner meeting on 9/21/2015 and then will hold its Board Meeting and Leadership Workshop on 9/22/2015.

The conference rate is $90 plus taxes and includes a full buffet breakfast. The hotel cut off date is September 10, 2015.

Chapter for their regular monthly dinner meeting the evening of September 21 at the La Mirage Restaurant
(next door to the hotel). The cost to attend will be $30 for AITP members (of
any chapter), $40 for guests and $20 for Student members.

The Monday night dinner speaker will be vArmour CISO, Demetrios Lazarikos who will discuss managing the Internet of Things.
The IoT (Internet of Things) will become challenging to manage from a Technical and Information Security perspective. Consumer-facing devices will be integrated into Enterprise legacy systems, which have evolved to using more modern technologies like cloud and mobile. Businesses will demand that technology be integrated into the Enterprise faster than before while Technologists,Developers, and Information Security practitioners will need to align accordingly.
In this presentation,vArmourCISO, Demetrios Lazarikos (Laz) will present some of his researchin this area as organizations move to IoT. Some topics that will be addressed:
What's top of mind for executives as they move to emerging technologies and IoT?
Preparing a cloud strategy and some options in protecting the legacy and merging technologies.
How to embrace DevOps and Agile frameworks while building a scalable Information Security program that integrates seamlessly into the environment without impacting business growth.
How the enterprise is going to manage, monitor and alert on the openness of systems that are now tethered to the Enterprise legacy environment on a global scale and are operating 24x7x365 days a year.
On Tuesday, Region 5 will hold its Region Board Meeting, followed by two Chapter Leaders Workshops:

If you plan to attend the Region Meetings and travel by train/Amtrak, when you arrive at Union Station, you need to walk a short distance to Ogilvie station, and then take the Metra to the Arlington Park station, where the hotel can pick you up via shuttle or cab (confirmed with the Hotel that they will do that, provided you have reservations).
