Telecommuting: To Telecommute or not to Telecommute; sorting out the opposing camps.

While many companies are expanding their telecommuting strategies, some such as JetBlue, building their company on work-from-home schedules, other large companies have cut back on or eliminated telecommuting.  Marissa Mayer at YAHOO caused much uproar by requiring everyone to return to the office in 2013.  Best Buy followed suit only a few months later, by changing their flexible work schedule, and requiring over 4,000 non-retail employees to get approval to telecommute from management. What is driving these seemingly opposite trends?

Some may argue that there needs to be a reason for the job function to have remote capabilities while other strictly prohibit it.  On the other hand, companies such as Dell and Aetna see Telecommuting as a core corporate strategy, to entice and keep hard to find top talent and to reduce costs.  Even at these companies Telecommuting is not seen as a viable option for all employees, is the trend growing to work-from-home or reverting back to the days of old where everyone has a nice commute to and from work? Come join our July panel discussion to hear some differing viewpoints on the Telecommuting debate.

Registration and networking starts at 5:30 p.m., dinner is at 6:30. The feature presentation will be from 7:15 pm to 8:30 p.m
