PRESIDENT

Thomas Malaniak

Network Technician, Trident Technical College

Thomas Malaniak enjoys providing support to our Student Chapter of AITP at Trident Technical College, as he helped restart the Student Chapter.  He currently serves on the board as Vice President.  Thomas also served as Director At Large in 2010.  He is a graduate of Rutgers University and spent 10 years in the judicial branch of government.  His interests include business continuity planning, wireless, and network troubleshooting.

Justin Nightengale

Project Manager, SmartLinx Solutions


Justin Nightengale is a Project Manager and Implementation Specialists with SmartLinx Solutions based here Charleston.  He started with the company a little over three years ago in the support and training role prior to advancing to his current position.  Justin became involved with AITP a little over a year ago because of his passion for technology, desire to connect with other IT professionals, and hopes of making an impact in the community.  He is also an avid guitar player which led to his involvement with Smalls Music Lab as a volunteer with their board of directors.  Originally from Oklahoma, Justin moved to Charleston with his wife Rachel to enjoy the beauty, luxuries, and culinary experiences of living in Charleston, SC.

Kay Damp

Account Manager, Diocese of Charleston

Kay Damp is the Account Manager for the Diocese of Charleston.  Prior to the Diocese of Charleston, Kay worked at Giant Concrete and had the bottom line responsibility for the all operations at the manufacturing facility and the related terminals in North Carolina.  Kay currently serves Treasurer and also had prior experience on the board as Director At Large for Affiliates and Awards.  Kay spent many years in the IT industry prior.

Michael Light

Michael first attended DPMA meetings in the 70’s while a Marketing Manager for the IBM Company. He has been a member of Charleston AITP for most of the last 30 years and has served in all offices and most committees.  He cofounded Carolina Business Systems in Charleston in ’82, grew the business to 5 offices in 3 states and sold it in 95’.  Since then he was President of CallWare Technologies in Salt Lake City, President of AllianceSouth covering central and northern South America and worked as a call center specialist with BellSouth.  Recently he began a consulting position with AT&T and is responsible for hosted application sales with several sales teams in six states.  Michael resides in Charleston with his wife, Yalani .. a former AITP member.

Joel Baumgardner


Joel Baumgardner is the Supervisor of Tech Support and Network Administrator for Select Health of South Carolina.  Prior to joining Select Health he was a consultant for 19 years, based out of Cleveland, Ohio.  He specialized in Novell to Windows migrations and Citrix installs.  He, his wife and 4 children moved to South Carolina to support his wife’s teaching dream.  She is a kindergarten teacher.  He has been an active member of the Charleston Chapter of AITP since he moved here 3 years ago.
