topic is a hot one right now for a number of organizations as personal
devices are becoming a center of discussion. Should employees be allowed
to use personal devices for company email or possibly get on the
company network? Join us for an evening of outstanding information as we
panel some IT leaders along with some experts on the topic. We will
have representatives from City governments, Healthcare and the Security
Industry.
Bios for Event:
Mary G. Siero
Mary is an executive level Information Technology Consultant with
experience in several industries in both IT and business departments. Her
diverse background has provided her with a unique perspective about IT’s role
and the value it can bring to the businesses it supports. Mary has over 30 years’ experience in
engineering and technology from industries such as Gaming and Hospitality,
Healthcare, Consumer Products, Manufacturing and Education. She has worked for
Fortune 100 companies as well as "for profit” and "not for profit” healthcare
organizations.
She holds current certifications as a Certified Information System
Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), a
Certification in Risk and Information System Controls (CRISC) and an ITIL V3
Foundations Certification. She is a Charter Member of the FBI Citizen’s Academy
Alumni Association in Las Vegas, a board member of the Southern Nevada
Infragard Alliance, and is a member in good standing of (ISC)2, ISSA,
ISACA and Toastmasters.
Over her career Mary has developed and managed IT security, risk,
compliance and operational environments for multiple organizations. Starting
with gap analyses and assessments, she has built best practice organizations
complete with controls applicable to the various regulatory environments
required for that industry (includes SOX, Gaming, PCI, HIPAA, etc).
She is an accomplished presenter having presented at national
conferences including Gartner’s Security and Risk Management Conference in 2010
and Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) National
Conferences. In addition, she has
presented on security and risk topics at Information Systems Security
Association (ISSA) and Information System Audit and Control Association (ISACA)
Chapter events and is a contributing writer to Hospitality Upgrade Magazine.
She served on the Advisory Board for UNLV’s Informatics Advisory Board
and was the Chairman of Informatics Curriculum Development Committee. Mary is a Charter Member of the FBI Citizen’s
Academy Alumni Association in Las Vegas, a current Board Member for the
Southern Nevada Chapter of Infragard, the VP of Public Relations for the Valley
Voices and Vices Toastmaster’s Club and is a member in good standing of International
Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC)2, Information
Systems Security Association (ISSA), and the Information Systems Audit and
Control Association (ISACA) .

She is a graduate of the University of Detroit with a Masters Degree
in Polymer Chemistry and a graduate of Michigan State University where she
obtained her Bachelors Degree in Chemistry.

Nick Kael is a senior security executive, with over fifteen years in the technology industry, the last nine years dedicated to information and network security. At Symantec Nick is responsible for security strategy and direction, working knowledge of industry trends, understanding the threat landscape and leveraging best practices. Nick is an extension of the Symantec Chief Technology Officer’s team of the Security Business Practice and a trusted advisor to the Symantec executive team and executives of our customers across Symantec. He has a broad range of knowledge in information security domains, web technologies, architecture, infrastructure, networking and development environments.
Prior to Symantec Nick held leadership roles in both network and security engineering for several telecommunications providers. These providers included: MCI, Qwest, Global Crossing and British Telecom where he held the title of Director of Managed Security Services.
Before entering the corporate world, Nick served eight years in the United States Marine Corps as a Team Leader on a Force Reconnaissance team where different aspects of security were vital to operations both on a physical and logical level.
