Technical Support Engineer - St. Paul, Minnesota

Provide and advance technical support capabilities for API’s hosted multi-tenant environment.

The support engineer will work to continually advance technical support effectiveness and efficiency as it applies to:

  • technical problem analysis-to-resolution across the total service and network infrastructure
  • application builds and deployments in a UNIX environment encompassing Apache webservers,
  • JBoss application servers, and MySQL databases

Required Skills and Experience

  • At least 3 years’ experience performing technical support and build/deployment activities in a UNIX environment.

Principal Software Systems Engineer - St. Paul, Minnesota

This position is part time with a 20-hour per week schedule, 8 hours on Monday and Wednesday and 4 hours on Friday.

Under general supervision, this position installs, updates, configures and troubleshoots personal computer hardware and software, and provides help desk support and training to end users in a Microsoft Windows environment that includes Windows Server, Windows XP and Microsoft Office.

Examples of duties include the following:
Assists users by diagnosing and resolving problems with personal computer hardware and software.

General Description:
The Lead Developer is a member of the Apogee Information Technology group, an organization dedicated to meeting the application development needs of Apogee’s business units.

A growing number of customers depend on Virteva for remote management and monitoring services, including servers, user computing, virtualization, and messaging technologies, as well as the underlying network, storage, and security platforms. We are currently looking to add several dynamic individuals to our team! JOB SUMMARY: The Database Consultant is responsible for providing technical support for both Virteva and customer database environments, including overseeing the development and organization of the databases, assessment and implementation of new technologies, and providing Virteva and its customers with a long-term perspective on the relationship of database technology to the business opportunities facing the company. It is extremely important to Virteva’s customers that on-line processing database systems offer the highest reliability and performance possible. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Understanding of, and experience with, server-client computing and relational database environments • Experience with data management and data processing flowcharting techniques • Knowledge of reporting and query tools and practices • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills • Technical documentation skills • Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language • Self motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment DESIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & OTHER SKILLS: • BE or BS Degree in one of the following subject areas: Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Technology or related field preferred • 2 -3 years IT operation with strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices • 3-5 years Microsoft SQL Server experience • SQL Server 2005 or 2008 • Database administration, tuning, security, and management • Background and/or certifications in ITIL, COBIT, or CMMI • Virtualization experience, i.e. VMware, Citrix, Hyper-V, required • Windows Server, Active Directory, and/or Exchange skills a plus
