Twin City Chapter To Host the 2013 Fall Region 5 Conference

The Twin City Chapter will host the 2013 Fall Region 5 Conference, October 10-11, in Bloomington, Illinois. Please consider attending. It will be worth your time. Twin City Chapter President John Haushalter and his committee have been hard at work planning this outstanding event. For just $40 for AITP professional members, $25 for AITP Student Members and $50 for non-members, on Thursday Oct. 10, you get a full day’s worth of quality education, banquet dinner, evening entertainment, a chance to win an iPAD mini, and an opportunity to network with fellow professionals and visit with our sponsors. On Friday Oct. 11, members have the opportunity to attend the Region 5 Board Meeting and a Chapter Leaders Workshop.

The Hotel reservation deadline is September 25. The conference registration deadline is October 4.
Business Success Through IT will be the theme for this conference.
Education sessions will start Thursday morning October 10 and run through late
afternoon. There will be both Technical and Soft skills sessions. The banquet
dinner Thursday night, where an iPad mini as well as other prizes will be given
away, will be followed by an entertainment and networking event.
On Friday, Region 5 will hold its Board of Directors meeting followed by a Chapter Leaders Workshop.

Region 5 Outstanding Chapters
Region 5 congratulates its professional chapters who earned the Chapter Outstanding Performance Award:
These Chapters demonstrated performance in all six areas that are evaluated: Association support, Region support, support of future generations, local community involvement, business community involvement, and efforts in developing their chapter. All of them had excellent performance in two or more of these evaluation areas but one chapter stood out as demonstrating excellence in all six areas.
This year’s Region Outstanding Chapter Award (ROCA) recipient is Northeast Wisconsin. Some of the 2012 accomplishments that made them stand out are:
Congratulations to 2012 Northeastern Wisconsin Chapter President Ron Mathis, Randal Reed who documented the accomplishments, the Board of Directors and the entire chapter membership.
The Northeastern Wisconsin Chapter now joins the other Region ROCA winners to compete for the Association Outstanding Chapter Award (AOCA) to be awarded later this year.
Region 5 thanks the selection committee which consisted of members of the Sheboygan chapter board; Lou Buell, Guy Fintelmann, Al Martell, Chris Roberts and Dick Boenisch (chairman).

Region 5 Officer Nominations Open Through August 31
The summer is moving by quickly and fall is approaching which will bring us to the Fall Region 5 Meeting in Bloomington Ill. The Region 5 Nominating Committee is seeking nominations for Region 5 officers (President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer for 2014. This is a great opportunity for members to learn more about AITP and to show their employers how they provide leadership not only at work, but also in the industry.

While current Region officers are encouraged to submit the nomination form, as with any organization it is always great to get some new people involved so they can learn from the past officers; apply their new perspectives and experiences; and help AITP Region 5 grow.
Region 5 Leadership Changes
Chris Nimmer, 2013 Region 5 President, has resigned that position because of work commitments. In accordance with the Region 5 Bylaws, Mark Gilfand, Region 5 Vice President, has taken on the position of Region President. Mark will continue to serve in that capacity until a new Region President is elected for 2014.

Congratulations to Mike Welch of the Capitol chapter who will be the 2014 Association President; Rick Steeber of the Northeastern Wisconsin Chapter who will be the 2014 Association Secretary; and Larry Friedlander of the St. Louis Chapter, who, along with Vicki Hampton of the Capitol Chapter, will serve as Association Directors for the Central District. 2013 Region 5 NCC Student Chapter Grant Winners AnnouncedThe 2013 AITP National Collegiate Conference (NCC)will be held April 4-7 in St. Louis, MO.Region 5provides grants to Region 5 student chapters to help defray the costs of participating in the NCC.
There were 12 entries received for this year's Region 5 grant. The Region 5 Board of Directors approved three grants of $250 each to be awarded for use in attending the 18th annual conference.

We want to thank all the student chapters for participating in the grant process this year. The applications from Region 5 for the NCC Grant tally 112 students (Wow – Yes 112!) planning to attend the NCC. Our student chapters boast some of the best and brightest and have had several contest winners in recent years. We anxiously await the results of this year's competitions and wish all the best to all our students and teams in St. Louis, "The Gateway to Your IT Future!".
