Region 5 Fall Conference, Hosted by the Twin City Chapter, a Huge Success
The Region 5 Fall Conference, Region Board Meeting, and Chapter Leader Workshop were held October 10-11, at the beautiful Chateau Hotel and Conference Center in Bloomington, Illinois. The conference, hosted by the Twin City Chapter, had over 100 attendees. The educational sessions were top notch, with high marks from the attendees. There were numerous networking opportunities during the breaks in the vendor areas, the hospitality suite, and before/after the banquet dinner.
Twin City Chapter President John Haushalter and his conference committee -Sue Braun, Alan DeCrane, Mark Gilfand, Kira Kellerman, Jim Nelson, Kim Osterbrock, Luke Rogers, Elias Sahyouni, Tammy VanEgtern, (mentored by Larry Schmitz), did an outstanding job. They provided members and non-members alike with numerous opportunities to learn new technologies, techniques and skills. Topics included Cloud Computing, Big Data, Social Media and your Career, Mobile Technology in Law Enforcement, Transformation of Information Technology, Leadership, Team Work, Life/Career Balance and more. Many non-members learned about AITP and the value it can bring to IT Professionals.
The Region Board Meeting and Chapter Leaders Workshop were also great experiences for the attendees. It was one of the largest attended workshops in years. Region 5 would like to thank the presenters: 2014 Association President Mike Welch, Central District Association Director Vicki Hampton, Foundation for Information Technology Education President (and 2001 AITP President) Nita Adams, and Chicago's Larry Winkleman for their presentations.
