    Fundraising Tips and Suggestions

    1. Sell USB drive, Notebook/Desktop PC check-ups/virus removal service or other things that are unique to IT so as not to compete with other campus organizations

    2. Consider an AITP tutor for CIS/CS classes for a nominal fee that goes to the student chapter and everyone planning on attending the NCC should pull shifts doing so

    3. Consider running an IT how to seminar or workshop for senior citizens or the community

    4. Solicit donations from ALL alumni of the CIS/CS program over the past few years - especially those that attended the AITP NCC in the past

    5. Ask the members of the CIS/CS/IT department's advisory council or board for support and/or sponsorship as a whole let alone the member organizations!

    6. Apply for departmental, college and university funding support as it is a national conference and you will be representing the college or university

    7. Solicit donations from the community to support the trip to "nationals"

    8. Ask your sponsoring AITP professional chapter for support as well.  I realize that not every AITP student chapter has a sponsoring local/regional professional chapter but also seek out area IT professionals and enlist their support

    9. Consider driving instead of flying to save money.  Worst case - you can arrive early Friday morning and depart after the Saturday night awards banquet which would require only 1 night of hotel lodging but you will be "real tired" and miss out on many networking opportunities and, perhaps, some of the contest events as well.

    10. Generally, as long as you have a specific purpose for fundraising like "getting to nationals", the individuals and organizations that you ask will be very supportive!

These items are listed as suggestions and please feel free to share your fundraising suggestions which I will post and share!
