I am writing this on my way home from the ISECON/CONISAR (http://www.isecon.org/ and http://www.conisar.org/) conferences in New Orleans. It has been a busy month crisscrossing the country starting with our Annual Meeting of the Members in Green Bay. This past week has also been a bit strange being in post-Katrina New Orleans and watching Superstorm Sandy news from the Northeast.
My heart goes out to everyone affected by Sandy. I know that this is a difficult time for our members in Regions 11, 13 and 18, and my thoughts are with you. First and foremost, I hope you and your loved ones are safe. I have many family members and friends who have been impacted by the storm, but fortunately no loss of life or serious injuries.
Our Annual Meeting of the Members in Green Bay was quite successful, and I want to again thank Region 5 (http://www.aitp.org/region5) for its hospitality during the Region 5 Fall Conference (see http://www.aitp.org/news/106813/). I also want to apologize for having to reschedule our October Virtual Water Cooler. We will now do the Annual Meeting recap and provide a Q3 report during the Virtual Water Cooler on November 27th. In the meantime, the presentations from the Annual Meeting can be found at http://www.aitp.org/?page=AnnualMeeting.
I have been remiss in announcing that Vicki Hampton of the Capitol Chapter (http://www.aitp.org/members/group.asp?id=75784) has been named the new Association Director from the Central District effective January 1, 2013. Vicki was named 2010-2011 AITP Outstanding Faculty Advisor at the National Collegiate Conference (NCC – http://www.aitp.org/ncc) earlier this year in San Antonio for her outstanding work at Eastern Illinois University (see http://www.aitp.org/news/news.asp?id=88576). It is with great pleasure that we welcome Vicki to the Association Board of Directors (ABoD).
I am also pleased to announce that Wendy Ceccucci was elected 2013 EDSIG President at the EDSIG Annual Meeting in New Orleans. Wendy is Professor of Computer Information Systems at Quinnipiac University in Connecticut, current EDSIG Vice President, and Editor of Information Systems Education Journal (http://www.isedj.org/). EDSIG (http://www.aitp-edsig.org/) is AITP's Special Interest Group for Information Systems Educators. As EDSIG President, Wendy will be a non-voting ABoD member.
Finally, if you would help Superstorm Sandy relief efforts, CNN has posted a list of ways "How to help after Sandy” at http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/impact.your.world/.
