2003, The Chicago
Chapter of the Association of Information Technology Professionals together
with The Executives' Club of
Chicago (ECC) and Society of
Information Management (SIM) Chicago has recognized technology leaders with
the CIO of the Year Award.
The award was
established to publicly recognize the
important role of the CIO in corporate and social leadership as
well as the significance that technology plays in
Midwestern companies and our economy. Selection considers leadership in
driving business value and technological innovation, business partnerships and
creating best in class workplace for IT professionals. Past CIO of the year
honorees include technology leaders from Nalco, Loyola University, Boeing and
Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
2013 CIO of the Year award was presented to
OptionMonster Holdings' Sanjib Sahoo as the honoree at the
ECC's Annual Awards luncheon program in
front of an audience of over 600 executives.
Sanjib was selected from a group of
top IT executives from some of Chicagoland's largest and most-recognized
companies. A panel of 13 judges reviewed nominations that were scored in 11 weighted
categories to determine the winner. Sanjib received the highest scores in
several categories including Leadership in Driving Business Value, Vision and
Tactics and Managing the IT organization.
"This is a great honor that reflects on the whole of our truly world
class technology team. We have achieved huge successes using disruptive
technologies to create a leading industry financial trading experience within a
short time," said Sahoo. "It
has been a phenomenal experience building this team from the ground up to solve
complex challenges and create competitive differentiation for our business."

OptionMonster Holdings, Inc. is the
parent of tradeMONSTER, an online brokerage firm.
The Chicago CIO of the Year competition is an excellent example of
how the Chicago Chapter has increased its visibility and stature through
collaboration or alliance activities. The award was founded by Rich Barnier (Chicago Chapter President
for many years) and was first awarded in 1995. While the Chicago Chapter and
Rich have been the driving force behind the award, it has been co-branded with
the Executives Club of Chicago since 2003 and with SIM since 2011. SIM Chicago
is one of the largest SIM chapters. Celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2011,
the Executives Club of Chicago is one of the nation's oldest and most
prestigious business organizations. This co-branding strategy is a key element
of Chicago Chapter's marketing to the Chicago business and IT community.
