We Had Fun!

On July 16, well over 100 golfers came together for the Northeastern Wisconsin Chapter’s Sherry Anklam Memorial Award Golf Outing to have some “fun in the sun” and raise money for the NEW Chapter’s Scholarship fund. And, we did—had lots of fun and, with tremendous sponsor support, raised lots of money for the scholarship fund.

The full list of sponsors is available at: http://new.aitp.org/golf-outing/2014-golf-sponsors

Here is the group getting last minute instructions from the golf pro for the shotgun/scramble format:

So the 38th annual NEW Chapter sponsored golf outing is in the books as another success.

An undertaking of this magnitude takes leadership and lots of dedicated volunteers and the NEW chapter has both.

Under the capable leadership of Carrie Drephal, Chapter President, and Rick Steeber, Golf Outing Chairman, this event has been in the planning stages for almost a year.

Here is Carrie Drephal “getting things organized and keeping things going”:

Rick? Knowing all was under control, he got to actually play in the outing. Here he is ready to make a hole in one—Look at the concentration!! Look at the perfect address of the ball!! Look at the knobby knees!!  Did you make it over the water Rick? At least to the Ladies’ tee?  Gotcha Rick !!

(Thanks to Mark Ferrell of FVTC for the great pic)

BTW—We did actually have the first hole in one in 38 years. Scott Kraft on #8 Red.

Rick Steeber was supported by a great Golf Outing Committee consisting of:
Al Bandola, Carrie Drephal, Chris Nimmer, Rick Griesser, Mike Solinika and Kyle Thomas.

In addition to the committee, they also had a number of volunteers on the day of the event that helped in all sorts of ways. They include: Brian Huth, Thom Willecke, Missy VandeWettering and Maggie Beard.

We also had a group of AITP student members from our Fox Valley Tech and ITT Tech student chapters who worked all day on the outing. They include: Leroy Cates and Victor Sabani from ITT Tech and Margarete Wentzel, Michael Milspaugh, Jessica Meshke, Mark Ferrell and Aaron Ebert from Fox Valley Tech.

When you see that kind of quality student members give up a day of their summer vacation to help us with our golf outing, it makes you feel good about helping raise money for scholarships for them and grants to their Student Chapters to attend the NCC.

A wonderful event on a wonderful day (80 degrees, low humidity, lots of sun and some of the “local” golf course residents to cheer us on).

Now let’s see—“What did I get for my AITP dues today?”

--I got to see and visit with lots of fellow AITP members

--I got to meet a bunch of IT professionals I had never met before

--I got to personally thank a bunch of great IT vendors for their support

--I got to find out what new things are going on in IT in the Valley from vendors as well as other IT professionals

--I got to meet and visit with some really sharp AITP student members

--I got to feel good about financially supporting those students and their Student Chapters

--And, I got to have “fun in the sun” with lots of great friends right here in God’s Country.

Think I got my money’s worth from AITP !!

Love this! This kind of snipit with pics of AITP events makes it all seem more real. And what a successful job of managing a team of varied staffing - great job Rick! Larry, thanks so much for sharing, always thought you were a fantastic writer. :-)
