Please join me in congratulating the Twin City Chapter in Bloomington-Normal, Illinois as recipient of the 2010 Association Outstanding Chapter Award (AOCA). It was my pleasure to facilitate the presentation by AOCA Section Panel Chair Conrad Cross to Twin City Past President Sue Braun during the Annual Meeting at the close of the 2011 Member Summit in Orlando, Florida.
Twin City Past President Sue Braun accepts the Association Outstanding Chapter Award from Conrad Cross
For the first time this year, AITP asked an external review panel to make the final AOCA selection. The AOCA Selection Panel for 2010 consisted of three SIM (Society of Information Management) members. They reviewed the Chapter Outstanding Performance Award (COPA) applications for each of the 2010 Region Outstanding Chapter Award winners. Based on these applications and recommendations submitted by the Region Presidents, the panel selected Twin City as the 2010 Association Outstanding Chapter.
In his letter of recommendation to the Association Awards Committee, Region 5 President Larry Schmitz noted that "Twin Cities, again in 2010, continued to function at an extremely high level of internal AITP activity as well as numerous 'Give Back/Pay Forward' activities involving the business community, community in general and the educational institutions in their area (as well as being well represented, not only in attendance, but in working at Region and Association events). They are truly deserving of this recognition."
The Region 5 ROCA Selection Committee determined that "The Twin City Chapter stood out in all of the categories. It was noticeable that they had maintained a good record of the activities of many of their members. The number of members involved and the number of different activities combined, resulted in a very good to excellent report."
Congratulations to 2010 Twin City President Beverly Stevens, Past President Sue Braun (who spent many hours documenting Twin City's accomplishments), and the entire Twin City Chapter leaders and members!
