It's hard for me to fathom that we're already into March of 2011. Weren't we just putting the Holiday decorations away a few days ago?
In just a few short weeks I'll have the privilege to meet with many of you at the 2011 Member Summit that is being co-hosted alongside the National Collegiate Conference in Orlando, Florida. The program for the event is look very strong, thanks to a lot of work by our Events Committee. This is an event you do not want to miss!
Speaking of the National Collegiate Conference, this event is another example of how AITP is working to enhance our industry with the leaders of tomorrow. I believe this is my fourth NCC (Atlanta, Dallas, Detroit). It is such a thrill to see college students so excited about their future in Information Technology! Kevin Jetton and team have done an outstanding job once again this year with this flagship event of AITP! Go Team!
Many positive things are happening within AITP. One I'm most happy with is the streamlining of the awards process for award year 2010. At the member summit, we will be acknowledging the awards for Chapter Outstanding Performance (COPA), Region Outstanding Chapter (ROCA) and Association Outstanding Chapter (ROCA) awards for 2010 - just three months after the end of the award year. This is down from 12-15 months that normally go by before we acknowledge these awards. Thanks to the outstanding work of the Awards Committee, mainly Barbara Shaver, we can acknowledge the winners while the award is still relevant!
Lastly, the Association Board of Directors filled the vacancy for the office of Secretary by appointing Beth Pirrie to finish out 2011.
To all members of AITP: My door is open. Please feel free to contact me via phone or email with any questions you have about what the association is up to for 2011.
