Stan Hoffman is the President of the AITP Pittsburgh Chapter. His employer, Babcock Lumber Co., was looking to train their employees on a new system they were implementing. Being short on adequate training facilities they asked Stan to find a suitable, and not overly expensive, training facility.
Stan knew that an ITT Technical Institute was located in Parkway Center, where there was a hotel and ITT would have the needed training labs. He contacted Dr. Robert Costiloe, a fellow chapter board member and professor at ITT, for his thoughts. After working with ITT's administrators, Robert was able to provide the facilities and equipment at ITT. When remote access problems arose, Robert worked to make sure there would be access as needed without compromising the school's security or policies.
Robert said there would be no charge and did everything possible to make sure the training session came off smoothly, which it did. Stan said he didn't know what he would have done without Robert's help. Stan and Babcock Lumber both made sure Robert and ITT knew how grateful they were for their help.
Stan said this is a perfect example of networking and highlights the important value of AITP membership.
