"Look well to the characters and qualifications of those you elect and raise to office and places of trust."
- Matthias Burnett

Voting for your Association leadership is a fundamental privilege of being a professional member of AITP. And voting in the upcoming national elections is the single most effective way to make your voice heard regarding the overall direction and future of the Association.

In past years, voter turnout for Association officer elections has been low. There have been many, many elections for contested races that were decided by less than 100 votes. Some members chose not to vote because they simply forgot or maybe felt that all the candidates were the same, so why bother voting. And several past elections were uncontested races resulting in appointments rather than voting by the members.

In this year's elections, every office up for member voting is a contested race. As an AITP professional member, it is your duty to vote for your elected officials to ensure effective leadership is engaged to serve for the betterment of the Association, the membership, you.

You vote for them and they work for you. So before you vote, make sure you do a little homework first. Research the candidates you are voting on, their credentials, how they stand on issues important to you, and what their plans are for the future of your Association. Go to to read about your candidates and their qualifications.

Note: The voting period is September 1 - September 30. Although you can read about the candidates prior to September 1, do not cast any votes until September 1.

Remember, your elected officials will have an enormous impact on the Association's future so thinking that your vote does not count could not be farther from the truth.

Change starts at a grass roots level and all change starts by electing people to implement change. To help guide the Association to greater success, please VOTE during September 1-September 30.

If ever your voice counts, it is now!
