Did you know that Microsoft rates cities as Tier 1, Tier 2 or Tier 3? This rating helps to determine where Microsoft will put their resources for launch events and where it will send their IT Evangelists (ITEs). Microsoft relies on the GITCA database for the number of cumulative users (the number of users in each of the user groups in an area) such that smaller cities often have a higher tier rating, and therefore get more attention, that a larger city.
If your chapter is already a member of GITCA, thank you. If not, read on.
You can help determine how your city gets rated by making sure that your chapter is signed up with GITCA. Note that this has nothing to do with UGSS or AlertPay. Signing up with GITCA is by far the easiest process and takes, literally, only a couple of minutes. Go to www.gitca.org and click on Join GITCA, then the Online Application Link at the bottom of the page. Or just go directly to http://itpro.community.officelive.com/RegSys.aspx. Fill in your chapter's info and click Submit. Please enter your chapter's name as "AITP (your chapter name)", e.g. AITP Chicago Chapter.
While there is a vetting process, vetting of AITP chapters is very quick and happens within a few days.
