National University has consistently provided tremendous support for the student chapter of the AITP. We held our Systematic Job Search Workshop on Friday, September 11th 2009 and Nancy Davis was our presenter. I chose Nancy for her professionalism and dedication to the Career Counseling profession and last night she was true to form. We are very fortunate to have had such a highly accomplished Career Professional and we expressed our gratitude by presenting Nancy with a Distinguished Presenter plaque. I feel our attendees gained valuable insight on the most successful methods for conducting a winning job search.
We had two young gentlemen in attendance at the event; one in particular was Edmund who is a junior at High Tech High in San Diego. One of the exercises we participated in was a mock interview where we asked the question, "Why should I hire you?" You could clearly see the trepidation on the face of these young gentlemen at the beginning of the exercise. As the exercise progressed you could see that they became more at ease and began to comfortably answer the question. I can say that everyone in attendance walked out with a clearer understanding of their marketable traits and the confidence to express them in an interview.
Again, I commend National University for its continued support. We look forward to future events in the wonderful School of Engineering and Technology facility.
