At its August meeting, the AITP Association Board of Directors granted Mark Gilfand, CCP AITP's Lifetime Individual Performance Award..
Mark Gilfand is a 28 year member of AITP, having served the Twin City Chapter as Publications Director, Membership Director, Programs Director, Secretary, Treasurer, Vice-President, President, and Association Director. Mark was elected to the post of President of AITP's Region 5 in 2001 and 2002. Region 5 consists of 68 professional and student chapters in Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, Northern Kentucky, the very eastern edge of Iowa, and the St. Louis area of Missouri. It is one of AITP's largest regions in terms of number of members.
Mark served on the Association's "national" Board of Directors as a Director from the "Central" district in 2003. He was elected as the Association's Secretary/Treasurer for 2004 and elected Executive Vice President/President-Elect for 2005. He served as AITP Association President in 2006 and was a member of the AITP Executive Committee as Immediate Past President in 2007. In 2008, Mark chaired the AITP Association Recruitment Committee.
Mark is the holder of several certifications including the CDP - Certified Data Processor, now known as the CCP - Certified Computing Professional and insurance/financial services certifications like CPCU - Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter, CLU - Chartered Life Underwriter, and ChFC - Chartered Financial Consultant.
The AITP Individual Performance Award (IPA) is a way of recognizing members for their individual achievements and dedication to the ideals of the association. Members earn points for each of their activities, such as committee assignments; election to office at the chapter, region or association level; presentations; attendance at AITP chapter, regional and association events, etc. A certain point levels, members are formally recognized for their contributions to AITP. There is a maximum number of points that can be earned in any one calendar year. The Lifetime IPA is awarded to those individuals who have attained the highest levels of achievement in the association, representing many years of continual service to AITP.
