"A great organization is one that delivers superior performance and makes a distinctive impact over a long period of time."

Successful organizations constantly re-examine their purpose and direction to ensure that their goals are in sync. Last fall, your Association gathered and analyzed data required to make knowledge based decisions for our future by asking "Who are our members?" "What do our members need today?" "What do they need tomorrow?"

By listening to our members feedback, we not only learned whom we serve and what they need, but empowered ourselves to truly define our organization, develop its mission and purpose, and determine specific activities and services that will meet our members needs both now and in the future.
As your 2008 EVP/President-Elect and Chair of All Service Areas/Committees, I thank the membership for providing valuable insight on the need for change - our future.

AITP at Work in 3D
Define: At its annual planning session held in November 2007, the Association Board defined a 3-year strategy for 2008-2010. The first part of this strategic planning involved understanding what we are and want to be. The second required that we use our resources in support of what we determine to be important

Develop: Using information from the Member Care Survey and the Demographic Study, we developed the new strategic plan with tactical and action plans focusing on four key areas of growth for AITP for 2008. We are focusing our collective resources on affecting activities that have a chance to make the most dramatic effect. The new plan begins by placing a greater emphasis on the benefits we deliver to our membership. In turn, we will develop materials and services that will directly impact the future direction of our chapters through enhanced communication and new leadership resources. We intend to extend our outreach to strategic alliances and partners that offer true valuable member benefit and greater market awareness. We intend to create overall AITP awareness through a re-branding effort that would include enhanced marketing materials and dedicated effort to expand the AITP sphere of influence.

Deliver: The power of an association lies in groups of like-minded people collaborating to achieve common goals. In general, associations achieve these goals through the contribution of time, expertise, insight, and passion of volunteers.

The Association Service Areas and Committees are diligently working individually as well as in team collaboration on delivering. The Action Plans include deliverables such as:

1. Chapter Leaders Support - Monthly teleconference and workshops
2. Chapter Financial Support
3. AITP Sponsored Events - webinars and face-to-face conferences
4. National Branding - new logo, marketing materials, public relations
5. Website Redesign - new feature/functionality, social network
6. Member Care - membership recruitment and retention support
7. New Affiliates Program - partnerships that provide real value
8. New Award programs - Chapter and Individual
9. AITP Professionals Retreat

Communicating is a key component (if not "THE" key) in following our strategy and delivering successfully. You will find the 2008-2010 AITP Strategic Plan posted on the web portal's Strategic Plan page.

To ensure our members stay abreast of our progress through the year, we have posted, and will post each month, all Service Area Reports which details the committees work to the web portal. You will find these Reports at the Service Area Reports page.

In summary, by sharing the Association mission with our membership and involving our volunteer members in developing and executing the tactical and action plans, we will continue our journey into becoming a remarkable association.

If you have any questions or wish to share discussion about the plans, please contact me. Your insight and feedback is valuable as greatness lies within our members and association leaders - and the two must intersect to make AITP "The Network of IT Professionals".
