The Charlotte Chapter of AITP held their January 2007 monthly chapter meeting on January 17 at New Horizons Computer Learning Center in Charlotte NC. The program topic for the meeting was "Microsoft SMS and MOM and the value of networking management tools in terms of their business impact" presented by John Baker of the Microsoft TechNet team. The presentation was engaging and interactive. John is a dynamic speaker and the chapter was fortunate to have him in town for the Microsoft Vista Launch and available to do the program.
In addition to John's presentation, the chapter was also very pleased to have Carolyn Walters, Region 18 President, in attendance as well. Carolyn was acknowledged upon her arrival and, after John's program, she was recognized to present Charlotte's ROCA award for the 2005 year and to install chapter officers. During the ROCA presentation, which was Charlotte's first time winning since 1983, Carolyn read the letter that was submitted to National on behalf of Charlotte for AOCA consideration.
The Charlotte board was honored to receive this award and thankful to Carolyn for taking time out of her schedule to visit the chapter. After the meeting concluded, Carolyn met with the board officers and a healthy discussion ensued regarding chapter growth and region and national support for chapters. Charlotte's next monthly chapter meeting will be held on February 28 at Belmont Abbey College and Dr. Jim Giermanski will be doing a program on RFID technology.
