At the NEW AITP October meeting the chapter awarded two scholarships, named The Sherry Anklam Memorial Awards (SAMA). The NEW Chapter of AITP established this award program to honor the memory of Sherry Anklam, a Chapter Past President who embodied all of the best personal and professional values that this award is based on.
Sherry passed away in 1995 at the early age of 44, but not before leaving her mark on AITP, the Northeastern Chapter of AITP, and the IT profession. She provided a role model for those who knew her with her dedication to excellence in all she pursued including educational pursuits, ethical standards and a work ethic second to none-and her dedication to the profession through AITP. The scholarship fund is managed for the NEW chapter by the Foundation for Information Technology Education. The NEW Chapter Board selects the recipients from among the most qualified AITP student members of the NEW sponsored AITP student chapters.
The awards winners were Jodie Scherer and Brad Pickett. Both are AITP Student Members attending Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, WI. Congratulations Jodie and Brad!
