This is the fifth article of our continuing series of "What Headquarters Can Do for You." Last month we focused on how one could create a student chapter of AITP. This month we want to highlight similar steps when establishing a professional chapter. There are currently over 80 professional chapters of AITP with several groups expected to complete their new chapter status by the end of the year. When creating these new chapters the Headquarters team works with people from like-minded backgrounds who see the value in creating a new AITP chapter. Many of these individuals are looking to AITP to provide networking opportunities outside of their traditional work environment. Others are searching for educational materials or affiliations which can deliver professional and educational value. In each case, AITP strives to provide professional members exactly what the IT industry is looking for.
If you are an IT professional who is interested in starting a professional chapter, we encourage you to visit the Professional Chapter Operations Handbook and follow the appropriate steps. The entire manual can be viewed by clicking Here. At Headquarters, we can assist the founding of a new professional chapter through a variety of ways including:
We can supply a sample/draft constitution and bylaws to be used by professional chapter leaders
We can develop sample membership packets and materials for use at an upcoming meeting
We can supply all necessary membership forms and instructions essential for the foundation of a professional chapter
We can assist in developing an outline for chapter dues and the process of collecting those dues
We can assist the chapter in fulfilling the requirements for the chapter incentive
We can have a member of the Headquarters team speak to (via conference call) an upcoming meeting of prospective members to highlight the value of belonging to AITP
We can work with the professional chapter leaders to enroll all new members and supply with applicable membership packets
Most importantly, we will work with the professional chapter leaders to ensure that all requisite paperwork is properly filled out and that all new membership applications are processed expeditiously
Attracting professional members is one of our key goals and initiatives each and every year, and we at Headquarters are prepared to offer any support which is necessary to attain this goal. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this process, please feel free to contact Headquarters via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 800-224-9371 or 312-245-1070.
