The AITP National Collegiate Conference continues to be the single largest event produced by AITP annually and the 2006 event was yet another HUGE success with a 3.5% increase in the total attendance of 820 over last year's event in Atlanta with 792 attendees. The record for most attendance at the AITP National Collegiate conference remains the 2001 event in Chicago hosted by DeVry University-Chicago with 865 attendees! The Central Michigan University AITP student chapter is already gearing up to host us March 29-31, 2007 in downtown Detroit, Michigan.

The conference continues to deliver true value and opportunities to the AITP student & faculty attendees along with our conference sponsors which included Robert Half Technology, Microsoft, AITP Foundation for Information Technology Education, MicroFocus, State Farm, Wal-Mart, ICCP Education Foundation, Cap-Gemini, Caremark, EDS, Geico, Insala, Valtech and David Smith of Chardonnay Enterprises and the most conference exhibitors since 1999 . The combined forces and resources of the Dallas AITP professional chapter with major helpers Midwestern State University and Tarleton State University AITP student chapters created a winning team lead by conference co-chairs Deborah and Bill Fly! The Thursday Texas Round-Up welcome reception was truly unique, memorable and filled with many photo moments of attendees from all over the country doing a variety of interactive "Texas themed" activities creating laughs for all of us. Golfers were also in for a treat at the 1st annual AITP NCC golf tournament produced by the Dallas chapter.

The keynote panel moderated by Robert Half Technology Katherine Spencer Lee got the event off to a huge success Friday Morning with tons of tips for obtaining that cool job in the field of IT and was followed by the absolute best "professional grade" breakout speaker line-up in the history of the event echoed by many. Additional luncheon keynoters Dr. Mac McGuire and Toni Portmann added personal value and entertainment to the conference which was only a warm-up to the awards banquet. Many AITP professional members attended and enjoyed the conference as well!

The conference concluded with the "best ever" awards banquet dubbed the "Texas Gala" wherein a huge crowd of 735 enjoyed a wonderful meal, enjoyed special guest speaker U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions and eagerly awaited the announcement of the RHT/AITP scholarship winners and the contest winners! With enhanced audio-visual from the AITP NCC volunteer event team complete with spotlight, live television studio quality camera, improved sound system, twin screen monitors and the conference traditional slide show which captured many conference moments produced by Tarleton State University ? all were able to see, hear and enjoy the banquet which has become the true highlight of the entire conference!

Planning has already started for the 12th annual AITP National Collegiate Conference which will be held in downtown Detroit, Michigan March 29 ? 31, 2007 hosted by the Central Michigan University AITP student chapter and CMU MIS Advisory Council. Plans are being finalized to hold the event in Memphis in 2008 and bids are being accepted for 2009 and beyond. Have a Great Summer and see you in Detroit next year!
