On March 13, James A. Van Der Puy passed away and to honor him the Sheboygan Chapter Board of Directors have established in his name an Information Technology Scholarship in partnership with Lakeshore Technical College.
The scholarship will be awarded annually at Sheboygan's August Golf Outing, this year scheduled for August 17th.
Note the following information concerning Jim's career and involvement with DPMA/AITP;
In 1965 Jim was a "Charter Member" of Chapter 207.
Jim held several offices and established/participated in many committees that set direction for Chapter 207.
One of the committees he served on started our chapter's annual golf outing in 1972. Jim and Gene Schnelle, retired from Plastics Engineering Company are the only 2 charter members that have attended all 32 of our chapter's golf outings. To date, the chapter has never had a "rain out".
Jim's distinguished career included technical and management positions for Lake to Lake Dairy, Polarware Company, Bemis Manufacturing, and Stock's Manufacturing and he was a source of knowledge for our membership as one of the first to deploy what we know as ERP systems today.
Jim met his future wife Donna in 1982 at one of our monthly Data Processing Management Association meetings. Donna is still active in information systems with Rockline Industries.
