The Association of Information Technology Professional (AITP) Anchorage Chapter awarded its most prestigious award on February 2, 2005. The "Computer Person of the Year" is presented annually to the AITP member who has made the most significant impact in the field of technology here in Alaska.
Mark Mathis, of CTG, has been a member of AITP since March of 1998. He has been active on the Anchorage Chapter board of directors during 2004, has served as webmaster, and handles the broadcast emails to remind us of our meetings.
Jan Blanchard, Region Director reports "Mark has made a difference in Information Technology for Alaska by promoting education, both from his professional career and his volunteer work. He recently accepted the role of liaison between the Professional Chapter and the Alaska Pacific University AITP Student Chapter. In addition, Mark serves on the board of Junior Achievement of Alaska, Inc. and is an Organizing Committee member of Alaska Workers Association."
Mark's career in IT has taken him from owning and operating a small Internet service provider (back when ISP's were small companies) to working with the state's largest ISP (in its time), to a multitude of roles with various systems integrators here in Alaska. Because of his broad technical background, hard work and commitment to education, Mark is our choice as "Computer Person of the Year" for 2004.
