The Jacksonville Chapter of the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) has managed to weather the storm created by an insecure business climate. For the last three years, companies have been focusing on issues like security and even basic survival, neglecting training and participation in professional associations. According to LaQuinta Harps, SAP Architecture Manager at Convergys Corporation, "Professional Associations like AITP provide an excellent forum to exchange ideas and practical solutions with Professionals with various degrees of experience. Not only does this afford one the ability to remain current with business and technical issues, it also broadens one's overall perspective on how a variety of industries tend to influence one another".
At December's meeting of the group at Gators Dockside, a new slate of officers was unanimously approved by the attending members.
Stephen W. Flowers of Gainesville, Immediate Past President of the Southeast Region of AITP, spoke about the dedication of the core group and the association's desire to rejuvenate the Jacksonville chapter.
