AITP's annual meeting in Newport, Rhode Island, was held on Saturday evening, November 6. The annual report to members in booklet form was a work of art. This is the first one edited and coordinated by volunteer effort. The write-ups and the verbal reports that updated various activities were so positive; we received no questions of consequence. We reported continuing gains in professional membership and an astounding turn around in student memberships, as well. Our financial picture continues with a healthy look. Retention programs are working and promotion programs have done very well. Communications with news blasts and the increasingly useful portal have been exceptional. Member benefits are expanding. Our partnerships are growing in numbers and quality. Electronic voting worked well. Self-provisioning has started and will be a tool for admiration. In summary, the entire description of achievements made for an upbeat meeting. The audience had only kind words for our progress.
I only give you a general overview on purpose. You must see for yourself that the descriptions I paint of our accomplishments are not embellished with my biases. The annual report is on our portal's Annual Report page. Please take the time to visit. Remember though, the reports were written weeks before printing. We have made even more progress since then. I am certain you will be as proud as I am of where our association stands. Please note the names of the folks who are mentioned throughout the reports. These people have worked hard to deserve our members' confidence and to merit continued support of the association.
There was much disappointment with the cancellation of our collaborating with Comdex in Las Vegas for this annual meeting. The cancellation caused problems for logistics, and made for a tough schedule of events, with some of our meetings going until 9 p.m. We survived only with great cooperation from EDSIG, EF, AITP and the Hyatt Hotel Newport. This was another example of success through the sincere energetic spirit we have in the association this year. We met the challenge well!
The new executive committee and the new board were introduced to the members. They are good people and have the ability and desire to carry the momentum further so we can be prouder still of our association.
Thank you, members, for your continued support. Thank you, board members, committees, chapters, regions, EDSIG, EF, individuals and all our partners who are working with us to bring this proud recognition of accomplishment.
