Association Outstanding Chapter Award (AOCA)

Participating on the Awards Committee has been a challenging and rewarding experience. Selecting this year's 2002 AITP AOCA (Association Outstanding Chapter Award) was no exception. Each Region selects and submits a chapter that has had a banner year. It's then the committee's job to select the chapter that did the most and did the best job of showcasing its achievements. The committee is not allowed to discuss results with anyone until the winner is unveiled at the national conference. AITP President George Koscho and I were very proud to present the 2002 AITP AOCA award to the San Antonio Chapter.

We can all learn a lot from the chapters and regions that submitted data. The San Antonio Chapter sponsored the 2002 AITP National Conference, Region 3 Student Conference and ISECON 2002, in addition to sponsoring six student chapters. The Anchorage Chapter did an off-site tour, an annual picnic and conducted 10 standard dinner meetings with topics like "Women in IT," "Today's Data Warehousing 'Fad or Fiction?'" and "High Tech Crime and Fraud." If you would like to learn more about what these successful chapters are doing, drop us an e-mail.
