Region Outstanding Student Chapters of the Year
Tarleton State University, located in Stephenville, Texas, was announced as the Association Outstanding AITP Student Chapter of the Year at the 8th Annual AITP National Collegiate Conference awards banquet March 29, 2003 in West Lafayette, Indiana. The Tarleton AITP Student Chapter has been very active for many years and always brings a large number of students to both the region 3 student conference and the ATIP National Collegiate Conference.
Additionally, the Tarleton ATIP student chapter has held its own programming contest for seventeen years. The students are responsible for all aspects of the contest, from writing problem statements, procuring judges, setting up the speaker sessions, the banquet and one couldn't forget the hospitality room. They always have free food during the entire evening that contests are being held. This year, they implemented the contests for freshman, sophomore teams and junior, senior teams, to give the underclassmen a better chance at placing. The students always do an outstanding job on this programming contest.
At the region and national conferences, the Tarleton students always have an excellent showing in the competitions. They usually come home with most of the prize money!!!!
The faculty advisors for the TSU AITP Student Chapters are Robin Wells and Dan Collins. Congratulations, Tarleton!
