Editor's note: The Eastern Connecticut State University (ECSU) Student Chapter and the Long Island Professional Chapter worked together in planning a site visit for the students at InterActiveCorp's (IAC) Global Headquarters with Vincent Luciani, CIO, which they did directly after attending the Long Island chapter's November Tech showcase!"! Here is more information about that visit from Student chapter President James Harakaly

ECSU AITP student chapter members left at 6:30am on Nov 15, 2011, destined for the Cross Sound Ferry. They boarded the Ferry at 8:00 am, a first for the entire team. An hour and a half later they arrived in Long Island and headed to the AITP-Long Island Chapter 2011 Technology Showcase and Economic Forecast. At the Long Island AITP event, they met many terrific people and learned a great deal about different sectors of the IT-IS world and career growth areas.

Three outstanding professionals, Dr. Pearl Kamer, Mr. Dennis Dissick and Mr. Christopher Pendergast, provided keen insight forecasts for the IT-IS economic sectors. In their presentations, they discussed upcoming economic growth prospects, areas of expected rapid change, and regional IS-IT development and collaboration efforts. All ECSU AITP members were extremely pleased with the event and greatly appreciated the hospitality of the Long Island AITP Chapter and cannot wait until next year's events. Around 3:00pm, they headed to New York City, to meet another amazing individual.

Mr. Vincent Luciani, Chief Information Officer for InterActiveCorp (IAC), met the members at the front door, with a firm handshake and a big smile. He showed members how IAC's two amazing video walls functioned, the larger wall is 120' long and 18' tall, making it the largest in the world. After learning about the video walls, Luciani took members to the 9th floor to discuss IAC's numerous $1.9 billion Internet businesses and IS careers, surrounded by an amazing backdrop view of the Hudson River and Manhattan skyline at sunset. Mr. Luciani gave the members a fantastic tour and answered their questions, all with only three days notice.

Such an awesome day in NY, and it is all thanks to Barbara Viola, AITP-LI President, and Vincent Luciani, CIO-IAC.
