I am happy to announce that AITP has awarded the 2009 Association Outstanding Chapter Award (AOCA) to the San Diego Chapter.
Founded in 1952, San Diego is one of the oldest AITP Chapters. It is also the oldest continuously operating professional technology organization in San Diego. The San Diego Chapter has won the Region 1 Outstanding Chapter Award (ROCA) six out of the last seven years, and it has won nine Chapter Outstanding Performance Awards (COPAs).
Association Executive Vice President Norbert J. Kubilus presented the President's Cup to the San Diego Chapter at its March 2011 chapter meeting and Past Presidents Night. Norbert, who was 2004 San Diego Chapter President, observed that "winning AOCA was a goal the San Diego Chapter Board set when we celebrated our 50th anniversary. The 2009 AOCA resulted from a team effort by Chapter Boards and officers over six years using COPA spreadsheets as their Chapter planning tool."
According to John Bugado, 2009 Chapter President, "Speaking for our AITP San Diego Chapter, we are certainly honored to receive this AOCA 2009 award. Many thanks to our AITP Board and members who really worked diligently all year to accomplish our monthly programs, new website, university chapter relationships, Cloud Conference, and increased membership."
AITP has a long tradition of recognizing the outstanding achievements of its Chapters and their dedicated leaders. The Association Awards Committee has announced the 2010 COPA and ROCA recipients, which again includes the San Diego Chapter. The 2010 AOCA winner will be announced at the 2011 Members Summit in Orlando.
