CONGRATULATIONS to the 26 AITP Chapters who met the challenge as well-rounded Chapters for the 2008 award year! Those following chapters qualified for the Chapter Outstanding Performance Award (COPA):
Akron Anchorage Atlanta Baton Rouge Big Country Capitol Charleston Chicago/Windy City Cornhusker Dallas Greater Wheeling Honolulu Jackson Johnstown Long Island Mile High Nashville Northeastern Wisconsin Oklahoma City Pittsburgh Polk County Puget Sound Research Triangle Park San Antonio San Diego Tarheel
The COPA form was completely revamped for the 2008 award year. Items removed were the: - levels and point structure - requirement to submit COPA in order to obtain Professional Chapter Support (PCS) funding - membership formula
Categories and items were added to the COPA form to demonstrate the activities of a well-rounded chapter. An area (called 'Other') was made available to enter anything that was not covered under the listed activities, but the chapter felt the activity qualified for consideration under that particular category. Some of the 'Other' activities could also qualify under more than one Category.
The Association Awards Committee made itself available to answer questions about the new form. Queries were answered by email or, if necessary, personal telephone calls. The Committee also requested clarification from some chapters. Based upon the response, the chapter may have been requested to resubmit their form.
The COPA form will be slightly improved (mostly cosmetic changes) for the 2009 award year. There will be a new instructional manual to help Chapter Award Chairs better understand the rules and category items. And the Association Awards Committee will be available to answer questions.
Again - CONGRATULATIONS to the 2008 COPA Chapters.
