Over 425 students, professionals, faculty, sponsors, and guests attended the annual conference. Eighty high school students and sponsors and one hundred ninety-one college students and faculty attended. The students received two lunches, two reception/parties, a choice of eight contests for a previously unheard of fee of $ZERO. Congratulations to the Conference Committee for doing such a great job of attracting sponsorship money that they could offer all of that for no admission cost to the students and a reasonable cost to the professional members and guests.
The high school contests were Application Development and Microsoft Office Integration. The collegiate contests were Application Development, Microsoft Office Integration, PC Troubleshooting, Network Design, Database Design, and Systems Analysis and Design. Trophies were awarded for first, second, and third place, with the first place winners receiving a $250 cash prize. Door prizes were given out at the two student parties, the awards luncheon, and the faculty/professional mixer. The Region 3 President Bill Fly won a Dell Latitude Laptop at the mixer.
Following the conference, the Region 3 Board of Directors met to transact their business for the year.
Our thanks go to Dr. Steve Reames (Angelo State Univ.), Dr. Nancy Hernandez and Nita Browne (Howard College), Dan Herrington (USAA), and the rest of the Conference Committee for a fantastic conference.
