When it comes to AITP, there is not enough I can say about how and what it does for me in today's IT industry as both a student and a professional. I saw what AITP had to offer, and instantly saw the potential it had and what it could mean to me.
AITP to me has been great, and I love it, and it has been my goal and purpose so far to share my excitement with this organization with as many people as I can. Fellow students, professionals, you name it, I want people in it. AITP is not just an IT organization, it is a community of friends, and through the friends a great opportunity to grow.
I stand here today as the President of my student chapter in Greensboro, NC, and also as a proud member of the first ever Student Leadership Council in AITP. What does that mean to me? It means much more than titles, and awards, and getting my name put out there. AITP has taken me to Virginia, Texas, and soon Tennessee. During those trips, I have met some amazing people, built some amazing friendships, and learned some incredible information that I brought back in hopes to use at my chapter, and in myself.
AITP simply is a way of life. It is a way of thinking about more than just networking, or being able to learn about upcoming software, hardware, etc. It has defined how I want to be, and how I want to share with others. It has allowed me to be confident in front of people I do not know, and talk about computers to the latest event. It has given me friendship of people around the country who share in the same love for improving not only ourselves, but those around us, student and professionals alike.
What I thank AITP most for is that it has improved my life all around, and for that I am grateful. I just recently started a new job and one of the first things that I was told was how good it was that I was involved in AITP, and this coming from my employer!
So above all, without AITP I would not be where I am today.
