The results are in! Here are the incoming officers and association directors who will help make 2008 one of the best years in AITP's history:

  • Deborah Lovell , Executive Vice-President/President-Elect

Deborah is currently serving as our Association Secretary/Treasurer. She has extensive leadership experience at both the region and chapter level, having served as president of region 3 and as president of the Dallas chapter. In her vision statement, Deb said that she plans to work to help AITP "evolve into a remarkable association with a commitment of purpose - to serve our membership's needs."

  • Beth Pirrie, Secretary/Treasurer

A member of the Association Board of Directors since 2003, Beth has also served AITP as president of region 2 and as president (twice) of the Puget Sound chapter. We all look forward to Beth devoting her energy to the priorities she outlined in her candidate background form: "Developing and maintaining healthy, growing chapters is a top priority for me, and I continue to support programs and efforts to increase chapter strength. Enabling regions to provide the help, guidance, and mentoring their chapters require is another priority."

  • Darlene Gerber, Association Director from the Eastern District

Darlene joined the Association Board as a director in 2006. She has continued to generously serve at all levels of AITP, including stints as president of region 18 and as president of the Northeastern Ohio chapter. Darlene has indicated that she intends to challenge AITP to simplify association-level business processes and to promote AITP through increased advertising "so that potential members find us and realize the advantages of joining."

  • Robert "Bob" Grenier, Association Director from the Central District

Like our other new national leaders, Bob has a long history of serving his fellow AITP members. He is a past president of region 5 and has also been president of the Illowa chapter. Bob also brings experience as a student chapter advisor and as a chapter liaison to the board. He is one of those hardy souls who dare to bridge the gap between education and practice in the IT profession! With this election, Bob is continuing on to a second term on the Association Board of Directors, where he hopes to promote "the value of membership in a professional organization" and to "contribute his efforts to advance recognition of the profession."

  • David Stovall, Association Director from the Southern District

We are fortunate this year to have two past chairs of the Region Presidents Council on the Association Board of Directors. Both David Stovall and Beth Pirrie have served AITP in that capacity. In addition to being elected to his second term as an Association Director, David is also the current (2007) president of the Big Country Chapter in Abilene, Texas. A long-time member (since 1979), David hopes to see AITP as "the leading organization for information technology professionals" and to lead us to "work harder to make our chapters grow" so that we attract "professionals who are willing to contribute their expertise and talents to their chapters and the organization."
We all look forward to seeing these visions and expectations move toward reality as a result of this hard-working group of new national leaders. If you have an opportunity to (a) thank them for stepping forward, and (b) challenge them to do what it takes to lead our association to enhanced national prominence, please do so. Also, after they say "thanks" for your congratulations, remember to say "yes" when they ask you to help AITP grow and succeed too!
