San Diego AITP is helping National University launch its own AITP Student Chapter. CSIS Department Chair and San Diego AITP Board Member John Bugado is the faculty advisor. The new National University student chapter membership has reached the requisite 10 members, and it has the Dean's recommendation letter. Student chapter board positions are being filled and application made to AITP HQ for its Charter.
As part of the student chapter kick-off, San Diego AITP officers presented at the National University School of Engineering and Technology Success in Technology event on Saturday, February 25. Representatives from Microsoft, Cisco and NCR also gave presentations. About 50 students, alumni, faculty and staff attended this "networking seminar", and San Diego AITP recruited three new members for the parent chapter.
National University is launching a couple of innovative programs supporting a strategy to get to and maintain a "leading edge" technology environment, including a Masters in Database Administration, which will be the first in the United States. It is forming partnerships with Microsoft and Cisco to take advantage of joint opportunities in technology, education and certification. National University is the only university in California currently preparing to implement Microsoft Windows VistaTM. It is also working to become a part of the worldwide Cisco University system.
This will be the third active Student Chapter sponsored by San Diego AITP. The others are at San Diego State University and University of San Diego. In the past, San Diego AITP also sponsored Student Chapters at California State University-San Marcos and Southwestern College.
