The AITP leadership recognizes the commitment the men and women of the United States Armed Forces put forth each and every day. We understand that AITP members who serve in the Armed Forces often are not able to realize the value in their memberships. This is especially the case for those members who serve our Armed Forces in areas of distress, such as Iraq and Afghanistan. For these reasons, we have developed a new policy to help those members fulfill the benefits of their AITP membership.
Starting on January 1, 2006, we are allowing AITP members serving in the Armed Forces the opportunity to extend their AITP membership. The offer states that if there is an active member who is serving in either Iraq or Afghanistan, he or she may extend their membership the duration of their time served in these areas of distress. To request this "military status," we ask that the member in question request this status to their Chapter leadership. In turn, the Chapter leadership will submit a request to Headquarters asking that the member have his or her membership extended. In the event that the member in question is an at-large member, the member would request the extension through the Region President.
If you have any questions regarding this or any other AITP policy, please contact headquarters at 800-224-9371 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
