AITP partnered with Education Foundation and EDSIG to hold our annual event in conjunction with ISECON 2004 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in the historical and picturesque setting of Newport, Rhode Island. The joint venture turned out to be very successful. It was well attended, had excellent educational sessions, good vendor exhibits and outstanding luncheon speakers with awards presentations. The ISECON Friday night reception gave all attendees an opportunity to renew old acquaintances as well as establish new ones.
The AITP board of directors meeting on Saturday, November 6, was very positive and well attended. The association's business was conducted in a true professional manner under the guidance and direction of Sam Luke, 2004 AITP president. Board members submitted written reports on their areas of responsibility along with written reports from their committee chairpersons. The board met the challenges facing the association head-on and successfully completed its objectives. The result of all this synergy is that the association has turned the corner and is ending the year 2004 on a positive note.
The AITP annual membership meeting was held on the evening of Saturday, November 6. Attendees were given a verbal report from the board of directors and committee chairpersons. They were also given a copy of the annual report, which contains written reports from the board of directors and committee chairs. The excellent booklet was edited by Diana Shelton of the Honolulu Chapter. Log-in to the Annual Report page to read it. Attendees were informed that the association's financial year will end in the black. Professional and student memberships are above the projected estimates, especially student memberships. More partnerships have been established in 2004 and the list is continuing to grow. The association was able to vote on-line for the board of directors and the executive council for the first time this year. The AITP Web portal continues to be a factor in AITP's growth. The volume of hits it is receiving is increasing due to the news blast and up-to-date communications. The 2005 board of directors was introduced, and each director vowed to make 2005 an even more positive year than 2004. The meeting ended on a high note of appreciation when AITP President Sam Luke presented Presidential Special Achievement and Service Awards to members for their years of hard work and dedication to the AITP.
The next AITP annual membership meeting will be held in October 2005. Please plan to attend. Also, please help your association by volunteering to chair a committee or serve on a committee. It is your association and you can help make AITP make a difference in the IT profession and in your career.
