AITP will soon have a new, exciting web presence with the introduction of the AITP Web Portal. The Web Portal is now in the final stages of development. At the time of writing this article, the launch date has not been confirmed. We will inform members before the web portal goes live.
After a nearly a year of planning, design, and development, the AITP Web Portal is coming to life. The Web Portal will feature a new, fresh, and professional, state-of-the-art interface. It will showcase AITP to the general public and promote AITP as THE professional association of choice for those in the IT Industry.
Members will find the Web Portal easier to navigate than our current web site. AITP materials like manuals, forms, clip-art and promotional documents will be readily available. You will be able to find the direct benefits members derive from AITP's affiliations with other associations and companies. AITP newsletters and late-breaking announcements will be easily accessible via the Web Portal.
There will be an enhanced chapter search, so that members and the general public will be able quickly locate both professional and student chapters. The chapter search will provide a way for users to (1) navigate to the chapter's web site, (2) see the names of officers and key contacts, and (3) contact the chapter via email. Even chapters without their own web site will gain a basic web presence from the Web Portal's enhanced chapter search. Chapter leaders will hear more about how to ensure their chapter information is correct, as we get closer to implementation.
One of the most asked-for features of the Web Portal will be a member directory. This directory will be available only to members. To access it, members will have to log into the portal with their private ID and password. As we get closer to implementation, members will receive more information about how to log on.
One of the main benefits of AITP membership is the ability to interact with others in our industry, for both information and collaboration. The Web Portal will enhance that benefit by featuring a new forum interface for the discussion of AITP-related and industry-related issues. Through these forums, members will have the ability to talk to fellow IT professionals from all over the country and world.
Another benefit of the Web Portal will be its growth potential. As AITP increases its web presence, it will form more and more relationships with IT organizations. These organizations will provide AITP members access to white papers, industry research, surveys, etc. AITP members will utilize the Web Portal to access to that information.
The Web Portal is an exciting new development for our association. The committee has been working many long hours to bring this benefit of membership to life. I cannot express enough how much I appreciate Mark Kleine of the Oklahoma-City Chapter. Without his tireless efforts and immense knowledge the Web Portal would never have been developed. Another key member has been Executive Director Mary Ellyn Zola, whose organizational talents have kept this very complex project on track.
Members will receive more information about the launch of the portal via email. Please be sure that AITP has your correct email address. If you aren't sure, please email AITP headquarters at email@example.com.
The AITP Web Portal will help AITP realize its goal of becoming the association of choice for those in our industry. The portal will help AITP members gain access to IT information, education, and people. That is a win-win situation for AITP members, their employers, and the IT-industry in general.
