AITP is fortunate to have active AITP student chapters all over the country. They participate in many activities to broaden the education they receive in the classroom alone. AITP annually recognizes a student chapter who has exemplified many activities that recognizes them as an Association Outstanding Student Chapter.
This student chapter has been very active for many years. They are active on campus, invite speakers from large corporations to speak at their meetings and tour many large computing centers of large corporations.
AITP student chapter must have earned SCOPA (Student Chapter Outstanding Performance Award) for the previous year.
All student chapters who receive the SCOPA award will go into a pool of candidates per region.
One student chapter will be selected as the Region Outstanding Student Chapter of the Year for each region that has SCOPA winners for the previous year.
Each of the Region Outstanding Student Chapter of the Year winners becomes that region's nominee for the AITP Association Outstanding Student Chapter of the Year.
The student chapter must show many activities that indicate they are involved in IT professional functions, meetings and conferences, and active participants in local, regional and national contest events.
A school cannot receive this award more than two times in a five year period

As Chapter President of the Professional Sponsoring Chapter (Taheel Chapter), we could not be prouder of all the great things this Student chapter has done... they really are a model that other Student chapters should follow - even us "pros" should emulate many of the things that Scott and his students have done.... congrats to all of the students and professors that work with them at ASU!
