Your Time to Lead AITP: Call for Candidates to Run for National Office
By: Deborah Lovell, Association Recruitment Committee Chair
    Posted: 2010-05-10 11:28:32.0
The Association Recruitment Committee (ARC) invites you to consider running for a national director or officer position to help our association build on the momentum that has been generated over the past few years. In addition to improving AITP's ability to serve and advance the interests of IT professionals across the country, you will also discover that serving at the national level provides an exhilarating and challenging opportunity to experience tremendous personal and professional growth!

While our association has benefited from the generous and dedicated service of previous national leaders, we have also discovered the substantial benefit that can be derived from bringing new ideas, perspectives, and passions onto the Association Board of Directors each year. Therefore, we extend an earnest invitation to you to step forward and help lead AITP into the future.

This year, there will be an election for Association Board of Directors members (called District Directors) from each of the four districts. The Association Officer positions open for election are: Association Secretary, Association Treasurer and Association Executive Vice President/President Elect.

To serve as an Association Director, you must be a member in good standing of the District to which they geographically belong. To serve as an Association Officer, you must have served for at least one year on the Region or Association Board to be qualified and must be a member in good standing. Members of the District or Association Recruitment Committees cannot be candidates in the year they serve on the Recruitment Committee. To learn more about the Association Board and Officer positions, see the AITP Structure Page at the AITP website.

If you are interested in running for a leadership position or have any questions about what is entailed in serving at the national level, you are encouraged to contact any currently serving national director or officer.

Furthermore, you will want to correspond with the representative from your district on the recruitment committee. The members (and their associated district) of the AITP Association Officers and Directors Recruitment Committee are:

    Deborah , Association Chair: pastpresident@aitp.org
Janeen Bralla, Western District Chair (Regions 1, 2, and 4): JBralla@tristaff.com
Tom Emmerth, Eastern District Chair (Region 11, 13, and 18): temmerth@compuserve.com
Stephen Flowers, Southern District Chair (Regions 3 and 7): mrstephenflowers@yahoo.com
Nita Adams, Central District Chair (Region 5): Nita.Adams@Comcast.net

Click here for a map of the Regions.

After you have decided to run for a director or officer position, one of the first things that you will need to do is complete the Candidate's Application. The information that you provide on this sheet will be available to the general association membership during the election. The Candidate's Application form along with the FAQ document is available on the Association Manuals and Forms page at the AITP website. Or you can contact arc@aitp.org for assistance.

Completed nomination forms must be submitted to arc@aitp.org by midnight (Central time) June 30. The elections will be held September 1 - 30, 2010.

This is your opportunity to provide leadership for the IT profession. We encourage you to share your leadership experience and AITP-passion to help us achieve the Association's goals in 2011 and beyond.

    Sincerely,

Association Officers & Directors Recruiting Committee

Deborah , 2010 Past President, ARC Chair
Janeen Bralla, Western District Chair, ARC Member
Tom Emmerth, Eastern District Chair, ARC Member
Stephen Flowers, Southern District Chair, ARC Member
Nita Adams, Central District Chair, ARC Member
