    About our AITP Professional Chapter
    History: 2005 Our 50th Anniversary
The year 1955 was importantThe People First: An HHS Customer-Focused Electronic Records Management? for three reasons. Ray Kroc opened his first McDonald's restaurant, Ford Motor Corporation introduced the Thunderbird, and the Washington Chapter became affiliated with the National Machine Accountants Association, the forerunner of the Data Processing Management Association (DPMA) and AITP.

Actually the Washington Chapter was founded in 1953, as a chapter in the National Tabulating Management Society (NTMS). The original membership numbered eight persons.

Early in 1955, the chapter was invited to join the NMAA which had been in existence since 1951.
The DC chapter celebrated its 50th anniversary at the Grand Hyatt at Metro Center in DC on September 8, 2005. Eight Past Presidents attended along with Chris Willey, current president: Ralph Jones, Vera Jones, Angela Connelly, Gene Dolan, Dick Davies, Christopher Willey
