Pay It Forward
As an IT professional your time is limited, but you should think how you can Pay It Forward by getting involved. Vincent Luciani, AITP Association Director, shares his story on how he benefited from guidance and someone investing time in him, and his thoughts on how you can Pay It Forward. He suggests getting involved by investing time in others through mentoring or getting more involved with AITP at the local chapter or national level. ARC Recruitment
Take your AITP involvement and experience to the next level by running for a position on the national AITP Board of Directors.Officer positions include: Executive Vice-President/President-Elect, Secretary, and Treasurer.Officer positions require one-year experience on a region or Association Board of Directors.The Secretary and Treasurer positions are a 1-year term, while the Executive Vice-President is a three-year commitment as EVP, President, and Past President.Director positions are: Central District Director, Eastern District Director, Southern District Director and Western District Director.These positions are open to all professional members in good standing and will serve a 2-year term, maximum of two terms.

All documents must be submitted electronically to theAITP Association Officers & Directors Recruiting Committeewith a copy toAITP HQno later than 5:00 PM EST / 4:00 PM CST onJune 30, 2014.

Award Deadlines
A reminder to all student members and chapters that theSIPA and SCOPA Awardsare due May 31, 2014. Additionally the deadline to apply for theFITE scholarshipsis May 31, 2014.

Cyber Event Recap
AITP invited members to attend a March 10, 2014 lecture on Reducing the Nation’s Cyber Risk, presented by the Enterprise Learning Department of NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering. This event featured White House Director of Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity, Samara Moore, together with a panel of senior administration officials, who explored the wide-ranging impact the President's policy will have on US industry.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this event, there were almost 200 attendees with more than 100 online viewers!If you missed the event or would like to review the lecture, the lecture has been recorded and is available on the event webpage.

Membership Milestones
Happy Milestone Anniversary to members for March 2014 and April 2014! Thank you for being dedicated AITP members! Also, welcome to AITP's newest members from March 2014 and April 2014.

Mile High Scholarship Winner
The Mile High Chapter presented a scholarship funded to honor the memory of Dave Sanders who was a computer lab and business instructor at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado. Dave lost his life while helping students to safety during the Columbine shootings. The scholarship was presented to the winner, Alekzander Bollig who will attend the Florida Institute of Technology in the fall and will major in Computer Science.Read the full article now.

New Chapters
AITP welcomes its newest Professional ChapterPuerto Rico Chapterthat was formed in February 2014. This chapter holds meetings in San Juan.

AITP also welcomes its newest Student ChaptersUNC Chapel HillandAmerican Public University/ American Military Universityin Region 18;ITT Technical Institute- Clovisin Region 2; andITT Technical Institute - Springfieldin Region 4.

TheUniversity of Texas – Pan American Student Chapteris refurbishing and donating computers to an orphanage in Reynosa, Mexico through a volunteer project that promotes technology education to young children.The chapter provided operating systems for all of the donated computers in addition to a program, which they wrote, that makes Linux easier to install.And they installed the software entirely in Spanish.Read the details of this exciting, innovative and worthwhile community service project inThePanAmerican Online.
