About Region 5
AITP Region 5 represents 12 professional and 45 student chapters of the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, the St. Louis Metro area of Missouri, Northern Kentucky, Eastern Iowa and Wisconsin.
AITP is a national professional association comprised of career minded individuals who seek to expand their potential -- employers, employees, managers, programmers, and many others. The organization seeks to provide avenues for all their members to be teachers as well as students and to make contacts with other members in the Information Technology field, all in an effort to become more marketable in rapidly changing, technological careers.
Fall 2010 Region 5 Conference
Thursday October 7 and Friday October 8, 2010 - Horizon Convention Center - Muncie, Indiana
The East Central Indiana Chapter will host the Fall 2010 Region 5 Conference.
The conference will be held October 7-8 at the Horizon Convention Center (Muncie, IN) and promises to be one tremendous educational opportunity for all Region 5 members and guests.
The base registration cost of only $19 for students, $49 for members and $59 for non-members includes:
- Choice of fifteen different educational sessions Thursday morning and afternoon
- Additional educational sessions on Friday morning
- Region 5 Board Meeting and Leadership Workshop Friday morning
- Technology Expo all day on Thursday and Friday morning (vendors booths, product demonstrations, etc.)
- Continental breakfast, lunch with keynote speaker and networking/cocktail hour on the Expo floor on Thursday

Region 5 Students Excel at NCC
Congratulations to our Region 5 Student Chapters for another excellent performance at the recent National Collegiate Conference held Mar. 25-27 in St. Louis. The conference, which was hosted by the St. Louis and Capitol professional chapters and the student chapters from Eastern Illinois University, Missouri State University, Missouri Western State University, Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville, Southeast Missouri State University and Southwestern Illinois College, drew 674 participants from 69 colleges and universities nationwide.

Congratulations to all the winners. All of you who participated were winners in the true sense of the word. You competed and participated with the "cream of the crop" in the Information Technology field of undergraduate students. You made new friends and contacts, got to "mix and mingle" with all kinds of folks who, like you, will be the leaders of the IT profession in the future.
For those of you who will be graduating this Spring, you will continue your involvement in AITP as a professional member by taking advantage of the Interim Member program that allows you to convert from Student Membership to Professional Membership at greatly reduced dues for the first three years after graduation. Check with your Faculty Advisor and Professional Chapter sponsor for more details on this program.

Fox Valley Technical College named Region 5 Outstanding Student Chapter of the Year
Congratulations to Fox Valley Technical College, in Appleton, Wisconsin, the AITP Region 5 Outstanding Student Chapter for the 2008-2009 semester year!
Region 5 President Larry Schmitz noted: This student chapter "did it all" in the 2008-2009 school year:
- They achieved 397% of goals in the SCOPA (Student Chapter Outstanding Performance Award) activities.
- They had a 30%+ gain in membership.
- They made themselves highly visible on campus.
- They have an up-to-date presence on the www.aitp.org web portal with all officers, faculty advisor, scheduled events, etc. correctly updated.
- They have all their chapter meetings listed on the "AITP scheduled events" page on the portal.
- They have been very active at all levels of the Association including attendance at professional chapter meetings, Region 5 conferences and the NCC (where they had a first place team in the student competitions in 2009).
