About Region 5

AITP Region 5 represents 12 professional and 43 student chapters of the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, the St. Louis Metro area of Missouri, Northern Kentucky, Eastern Iowa and Wisconsin.

AITP is a national professional association comprised of career minded individuals who seek to expand their potential -- employers, employees, managers, programmers, and many others. The organization seeks to provide avenues for all their members to be teachers as well as students and to make contacts with other members in the Information Technology field, all in an effort to become more marketable in rapidly changing, technological careers.

Region 5 NCC Grant Application Now Available

Student Chapters Must Submit the Application Form by February 12, 2010

Region 5 is pleased to announce the availability of grants to assist Region 5 Student Chapters to attend the National Collegiate Conference (NCC). Up to four $300 grants are available to qualified chapters.

Student Chapters eligible to compete for these grants include all Region 5 student chapters in good standing that plan to attend the National Collegiate Conference in St. Louis on March 25-28, 2010. Student chapters in good standing include those with at least 10 dues paying members, a faculty advisor and all officers and faculty advisor listed (with email links) on their chapter page on www.aitp.org.

Special care should be taken to read the application form and procedure in its entirety to ensure that you include all required information.

Applications must be received by February 12, 2010. Send the forms to the email address at the bottom of the application.

Fox Valley Technical College named Region 5 Outstanding Student Chapter of the Year

Congratulations to Fox Valley Technical College, in Appleton, Wisconsin, the AITP Region 5 Outstanding Student Chapter for the 2008-2009 semester year!

Region 5 President Larry Schmitz noted: This student chapter "did it all" in the 2008-2009 school year:

  • They achieved 397% of goals in the SCOPA (Student Chapter Outstanding Performance Award) activities.
  • They had a 30%+ gain in membership.
  • They made themselves highly visible on campus.
  • They have an up-to-date presence on the www.aitp.org web portal with all officers, faculty advisor, scheduled events, etc. correctly updated.
  • They have all their chapter meetings listed on the "AITP scheduled events" page on the portal.
  • They have been very active at all levels of the Association including attendance at professional chapter meetings, Region 5 conferences and the NCC (where they had a first place team in the student competitions in 2009).
Fox Valley Technical College will join outstanding student chapters from other regions and one of those chapters will be named the Association Outstanding Student Chapter of the Year at the 2010 National Collegiate Conference (NCC) in St. Louis, Missouri, March 25-28, 2010.

Congratulations to Fox Valley Technical College, Faculty Advisor Brenda Wilz, Chapter President Thomas Willecke, and all the officers and members of this outstanding student chapter!

Spring 2010 Region 5 Conference

Thursday March 25, 2010 through Saturday March 27, 2010 - St. Louis, Missouri

The St. Louis Chapter will host the Spring 2010 Region 5 Conference at the Millennium Hotel in St. Louis, Missouri March 25, 2010 - March 27, 2010. The Region 5 Spring Meeting and the St. Louis Chapter Meeting will be held in conjunction with the 2010 National Collegiate Conference (NCC). Watch this space and the NCC web site for more details.

Fall 2010 Region 5 Conference

Thursday October 7 and Friday October 8, 2010 - Muncie, Indiana

The East Central Indiana Chapter will host the Fall 2010 Region 5 Conference. Watch this space for more details.

Spring 2011 Region 5 Conference

Spring 2011 - Springfield, Illinois

The Capitol Chapter will host the Spring 2011 Region 5 Conference. Watch this space for more details.

Region 5 Welcomes New Chapters

AITP Region 5 is growing. We are proud to welcome the following new chapters in our region.

University of Illinois - Urbana-Champaign Student Chapter. The parent chapter is Twin City.

Rasmussen College - Green Bay, Wisconsin Student Chapter. The parent chapter is Northeastern Wisconsin.

East Central Indiana our newest Professional Chapter.
