July 2002 Newsletter
Mark S. Gilfand, CDP
Region 5 President
It's summertime! Hopefully, we are all enjoying the warm weather and fresh air. It is a time when many AITP chapters take a couple of months off from their regular meetings. But in every chapter there are members who don't get a break. There are officers, directors, committee chairs and committee members in your chapter, who use this time to catch up on AITP tasks and to prepare for upcoming meetings and newsletters. The same is happening at the Region and throughout the Association. I thought I'd take this opportunity to briefly catch you up on some Region and Association news.
Chapter Operation Bulletins at Region 5 Web Site
Some AITP/DPMA members may remember the old Chapter Operations Bulletins (COBs). These were short papers, a few pages in length, limited to very specific subjects, that provided guidance to chapters. They were great for passing onto committee chairs and members. Recently, an Association Committee revised those COBs and brought them up-to-date.
The COBs will be posted on the Association web-site in the near future. However, thanks to Perry Fritz, our region Webmaster, the COBs are available now at the Region 5 website.
Here's a list of the COBs.

AITP Manuals and Forms Update
AITP Headquarters staff has been working hard to update the AITP Manuals and their accompanying forms at the AITP website (http://www.aitp.org/). You will find many improvements in this section of the AITP web site that will help you easily find and download a particular manual or form
On the Home Page, you will find a new button (the bottom one on the left side of the page), labeled 'Manuals/Forms' that will take you directly to the new Manuals/Awards/Forms page. You can also get there via the 'Site Map' button (top of the Home Page) and then scrolling down to 'AITP Documents'.
The updated Membership Chair Manual will be posted in the near future.
Important AITP Dates
The Region 5 Conference committee is hard at work. The Twin City Chapter will soon send information about the schedule and how to register for what will be an outstanding educational event. The Association Conference in San Antonio promises to be one of the best Association Conferences in years.
The 2003 National Collegiate Conference (NCC) will be nearby, in West Lafayette, Indiana. And don't forget that the 2003 Association conference will be in St. Louis. It will feature webcasting capabilities that will allow your chapter to participate in the conference!
