What’s on your personal development agenda for 2017? Spiceworks asked nearly 500 IT pros from around the world what they want to learn this year. The top 10 runs the gamut from technical skills to soft skills, proving that in IT, you need a good balance of both. Let’s look at the most popular skills and then see how CompTIA AITP can help you improve them.

Not surprisingly, IT security/cybersecurity skills ranked number one, with 62 percent of respondents looking to improve those skills in 2017. More than half of the respondents also cited networking skills (as in computers, not meeting people) as a top priority. Virtualization rounded out the top three, with 45 percent of respondents looking to learn more.

A third of respondents want to improve soft skills, like communication and management, and project management. Programming, development, cloud and analytics rounded out the top 10.
