It’s hard to believe it’s only been one year since CompTIA AITP officially launched. In August 2017, we set out on a mission to accelerate our nation’s tech workforce and become the go-to resource for individuals of all backgrounds looking to start, grow and advance careers in IT.
Over the past 12 months, we’ve made tremendous strides on our journey. CompTIA AITP’s diverse membership has grown to include more than 11,000 IT pros, students and educators—a 250 percent increase from our initial membership at launch—who represent the heart of the IT industry.
We’re encouraged by the strong growth we’ve seen in our network of local CompTIA AITP chapters, which are spread across nearly three dozen cities from Atlanta to Anchorage. And it’s not just the traditional coastal tech hubs where momentum is building from new members looking to jumpstart a career in tech. CompTIA AITP chapters in Lehigh Valley and Dallas seen significant upticks in new members joining this year.
A key part of this growth is the signature events hosted by CompTIA AITP and its local chapters. From the International Entrepreneurs Panel in Raleigh to the Women Leaders in Tech Forum in Atlanta, CompTIA AITP hosted more than 150 events over the past year.
Chapter officers who organize the events are committed to bringing diverse professionals together with IT industry leaders to hear the latest trends and exchange ideas with one another. The cumulative effect? Even with all the immense growth in membership, when members attend a CompTIA AITP chapter event, they are warmly welcomed, respected as IT professionals and able to connect with like-minded individuals.
CompTIA AITP chapters also host a variety of awards to recognize IT leaders who have gone above and beyond to make a difference in their communities, including 2018’s Most Effective IT Team and Chicago’s CIO of the Year. And, members can apply or nominate a colleague or a chapter for the inaugural CompTIA AITP awards, for an opportunity to recognized and honored at the national level for their commitment to the IT industry and the association.
Additionally, CompTIA AITP members are taking advantage of a suite of new online tools to help grow their skills and seize new career opportunities. Through TechTalent, a powerful career portal, members have exclusive access to nationwide IT job postings and real-time salary data, as well as the ability to create a market-driven resume. CompTIA’s Tech Topics webinar series gives members a chance to learn from industry leading experts about trends such as artificial intelligence, cloud and IoT.
As we look forward to the second year of CompTIA AITP, we are excited to build on our momentum and double down on our commitment to empowering individuals of all backgrounds to advance careers in IT.
CompTIA AITP has an action-packed schedule for the remainder of 2018, including three recently announced TechTurnout events this fall. These convenient, half-day regional events provide a chance to network with hundreds of tech professionals in your area, hear from industry experts and earn CEUs:
