CompTIA AITP and local chapters have been busy this fall hosting local events that engage and educate the IT community. Here’s a look at some of the events and programming that have happened around the country.
IT Pros Sample Virtual Reality at TechTurnout West
On October 11, more than 60 San Diego-area IT pros joined CompTIA AITP at Liberty Station for a half-day event featuring insightful sessions about emerging trends in ransomware, the process of migrating to the cloud, the evolution of network troubleshooting and more. IT pros also had the opportunity to earn CEUs toward CompTIA certifications, network with tech professionals in their region and test virtual reality simulators.
TechItOut Draws IT Pros from Across Missouri
Nearly 500 IT pros descended on the Oasis Hotel and Convention Center in Springfield, Missouri for techITout, the 10th annual Technology Showcase and Expo, and largest technology event in the region, hosted by the CompTIA AITP Ozarks Chapter. The highly anticipated, one-day event featured more than 20 breakout sessions and 60 exhibitors as well as a keynote address on cyber espionage from Darrin Jones, special agent in charge at the FBI. CompTIA AITP Chicago Names CISO of the Year
On October 9, the Chicago chapters of the CompTIA AITP, ISACA, FBI-InfraGard, Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) and the Society for Information Management (SIM) named Bradley Schaufenbuel, Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer at Paylocity, the Chicago-area Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) of the Year. Schaufenbuel was announced the winner during a breakfast ceremony at the Metropolitan Club of Chicago.
Schaufenbuel oversees the information security function at Paylocity, a technology company that develops and maintains cloud-based payroll and human capital management software. Given the sensitivity of the information that is entrusted to it by millions of client employees, Paylocity has tightly embedded information security and privacy considerations into its products and its award-winning culture and is SSAE 18 audited and ISO 27001 certified.
CompTIA AITP Atlanta Holds 12th Annual CIO Roundtable
Earlier this fall, the CompTIA AITP Atlanta Chapter held one of its signature events, the annual CIO Roundtable. Justin Mason, a technology executive with more than 20 years of global experience leading professional services and operations, moderated the panel of CIOs, which featured Bradley Dick, CIO, Resurgens Orthopaedics; Tom Bland, acting CIO, Cobb EMC; Dr. Mark Campbell, CIO, Atlanta Housing Authority; and Walt Carter, Chief Digital Officer and CIO, Homestar Financial. The panel covered a range of topics including recruiting talent, trends in the industry, privacy and security, and more. Read more about the event.
